The National Cyber Security Centre has reported that 204 nationally significant incidents hit the UK in the 12 months to August 2025. The previous year’s figure was 89, so the number more than doubled and works out at around four a week. The NCSC also recorded 18 highly significant incidents, up from 12. Its chief executive, Richard Horne, described cyber security as “now a matter of business survival and national resilience”.
Why this matters if you make, distribute or install connected equipment
Most of the incidents the NCSC handles involve large or critical organisations, but the pressure reaches everyone who supplies into them. Customers are asking more questions about the networks that AV, security and building systems sit on. They want to know who checked them, and who is responsible if something goes wrong later.
The NCSC’s advice is to make yourself as hard a target as possible and to treat cyber resilience as a leadership matter, not an IT afterthought. For equipment suppliers and integrators, that starts before installation and continues after it.
Where we fit
Our Connect service is an independent network assessment before install, so problems are found while they are cheap to fix. Protect is a post-install cyber analysis, with a formal handover record of the documented risks and vulnerabilities, so responsibility passes clearly from the installer to the network manager.
